05/11/12 The Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw has an opportunity for students who play musical instruments.  Students finishing 9th grade through 12th grade who have an interest in performance music will be richly rewarded with the opportunity to work with professional musicians in a pit orchestra setting and become a part of their inaugural year of program expansions at The Wagon Wheel Theatre.  This FREE opportunity is with a minimal charge for the materials fee to copy music that they will get to keep.  Students should have a positive attitude, be eager to work hard and be ready to learn what it takes to become a professional musician.

The Wagon Wheel is searching for students who play the following instruments: Flute/Piccolo, Clarinet/Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone/Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Cello, Bass and/or Electric Bass, Electric/Acoustic Guitar, Percussion

Auditions will be held at the Wagon Wheel Theatre BY APPOINTMENT on the following dates: Sunday, May 20th, 4 – 8 pm, Monday, May 21st, 5:30 – 8:30 pm, Monday, May 28th  1 – 6 pm (Memorial Day), Auditioning at a time other than during the times listed will probably not be possible.

Students who are interested in auditioning should have a parent or guardian email Thomas Stirling, Musical Supervisor of Wagon Wheel Theatre at musicmaestrotom10@gmail.com to schedule an audition time no later than  Monday, May 17th.  Audition times will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.  If all audition slots fill up, an audition time cannot be guaranteed, so contact soon to secure a timeslot.  Please be sure to include the student’s name, contact phone number, instrument(s), and all available times to allow flexibility in scheduling the audition.  Students will be scheduled for an approximate 15 minute time block.

During the audition the student must perform a prepared solo up to 7 minutes in length, with no accompaniment.   Percussionists must be comfortable on drum set.  Students should be comfortable with most major key signatures.  There will be sight-reading at the audition.  Any other special instructions will be given out when the audition is scheduled.

Students must be available for most – if not all the group rehearsals, which will be scheduled between Monday June 11th and July 14th.  The one and only performance is Saturday, July 14th at 1 p.m. A rehearsal schedule will be available upon request for an audition time.
