4-H Fair Honors 53 10-Year Members

7/12/11 The Marshall County 4-H Fair in Argos officially opened at 6:30 Sunday afternoon with the recognition of the 10-Year members and the crowing of the 2011 4-H King and Queen in the Joe Gingerich Area.

Herb Newman, President of the 4-H Council welcomed everyone and said, “It’s hot! It’s July, and there are over 1,000 animals in the neighborhood.  It must be fair time!” 

Opening remarks by Richard Markley, President of the 4-H Fair-Board spoke of the many changes.  He said after last year’s fair they accepted suggestion for making the fair better.  Some of those changes implemented included guidelines on projects,  having the more than 400 adult volunteers renew their support of the 4-H program, a brand new Youth Extension Educator, Amy Jones who came on board June 1^st, the creation of a leaner fair board, and the re-institution in a modified form of the 4-H Queen and King contest. 

The program then introduced the 10-Year Members.  This class, for the first time in more than 30 years had 53 outstanding young men and women in it.  Listed below are the 10-year members:
