Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting

City NEwsPlymouth’s Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson updated members of the Board of Public Works and Safety on the odor control unit installed at the end of South 6th Street Monday night.  NIPSCO has supplies the power to the unit and is has been operational for 10 days.  Davidson said, “Results have been favorable but it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get the microbes living in an abundance to consume the hydrogen sulfite, which is the odor causing agent.”

Davidson was granted approval to solicit quotes for a compact excavator.

Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller has completed the hiring process and was giving approval to offer conditional employment to Kimberly Irsa from Culver for the open paramedic position.  Irsa has her paramedic certification but does not have the required firefighter certification.  Mayor Senter said during the What’s Your Opinion Show on Tuesday she has already started the training for the firefighting.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety gave Police Chief Dave Bacon approval to solicit quotes for two new patrol vehicles.  He will be purchasing two SUV’s which are in his budget and trading in two cars and a van that had previously been used by the Drug Task Force.
