City NEwsThe Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety covered a number of items during their meeting Monday evening.  They awarded the bid for a new heating and air conditioning unit for the old admin building at the Sewer Treatment Plant.  Peregrine Heating and Cooling had the low bid at $11,981.

Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson commented, “We solicited four local companies for bids.”  Only Peregrine and Bowman’s Tin Shop offered bids.  Councilman Don Ecker asked if the other two companies declined to bid and Davidson said both Standard Plumbing and Jones Heating visited the site and reviewed the project but failed to submit a bid.

City Of Plymouth_bid openingBids were opened for the 2015 Plymouth Street Department Mill and Fill Projects.  Five companies submitted bids with them ranging from $488,550 from Niblock of Bristol up to $696,457.62 from E & B Paving from Rochester.  The bids were taken under advisement for review with awarding to be in two weeks.  A portion of the work will be the south entrance at Centennial Park and two short streets in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mayor Senter told Board of Public Works and Safety members they will receive Requests for Proposals for new entrance signage.  He said a 13 member committee has been working for about 6 weeks a creating the RFQ and determining who they will solicit proposals from. The Mayor said he budgeted $100,000 this year but the entire project will need to be phased in over a couple of years.

Board member Mike Delp expressed his safety concern where a home that collapsed last week at the corner of Walnut and Adams street.  The structure has been removed but the basement is left and it only has yellow tape around it.  Building Commissioner Keith Hammond will contact the owners and ask for fencing to secure the property.

In other business both Councilman Don Ecker and Mayor Senter spoke of an incident in their neighborhood last week where two family members were mauled by a dog they were caring for in a foster program.  They forwarded on accolades to police and EMS for their professionalism in responding to the situation.
