State Rep Tim HarmanDistrict 17 State Representative Tim Harman has announced that he will not seek re-election in 2016.

Speaking on Monday morning’s edition of the What’s Your Opinion Show, Harman said that he had thought and “prayed for guidance” on the decision and was quote  “perfectly at peace” about his decision not to run for the seat he has occupied for three terms. Harman cited family as his main reason for making the decision saying that the long sessions kept him away from his children and business more than he felt he should be.

Harman stated he hadn’t planned on making the announcement on the show but added that he had decided he wanted to make his decision known early to allow any candidates interested in pursuing the office sufficient time to run a “grass roots” campaign like he first did if they so desired.

He thanked the voters and constituents of the district and did not rule out a return to politics at a later date.
