Marshall County REMC’s power supplier is Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA), a generation and transmission cooperative that serves our electric co-op and 22 other distribution co-ops in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. WVPA is a member of the Mid-Continent Independent System Operator (MISO), and MISO is responsible for making sure the right amount of electricity is generated and transmitted to its member utilities. We are responsible for delivering the power to members, like you, at the end of the line.

MISO recently released a Summer Readiness Assessment news release which outlined their projections for the next few months. The assessment highlighted the potential need for emergency procedures to keep the electric system in balance as well as the need for more resource flexibility to reliably generate and manage the uncertainty of extreme weather. Coordinated, temporary power outages are an absolute last step emergency measure implemented to protect the electric grid and MISO has never taken this step in Indiana/Illinois/Missouri.
