March 6th was National Oreo Day and you could find residents of Miller’s Assisted Living conducting their very own OREO taste testing contest.  The Oreo’s were provided by the Activity Department and the contest was sponsored by Volunteer Sharon Duff.  The residents had 6 OREO flavors to test and throughout the contest residents also answered OREO trivia questions and played an OREO stacking contest!  The flavors the residents tested were Red Velvet, Mint, Carrot Cake, Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie, Caramel Coconut and Dark Chocolate.  Each resident received a half of each flavor of cookie and water or coffee to “cleanse the palate” between each flavor.  The residents were given plenty of time to taste and make notes about the individual flavors.  When all flavors were tasted the residents then told which flavor was their favorite.  There was a tie between Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie and Caramel Coconut.   PCA Cassandra Atkins was asked to be the tie-breaker by giving each flavor a taste.  Atkins broke the tie by claiming Caramel Coconut as the BEST OREO FLAVOR! Many prizes were handed out during the trivia portion of the activity.  Norma Young was the OREO Stacking champ by stacking ten OREO’s in 15.32 seconds.
