The 2016 Plymouth Community School Corporation Countdown to Kindergarten summer program has officially concluded.

KindergradenPrep2016_1The program which is funded in-part by a grant provided by United Way of Marshall County (UWMC), helps students who have not attended a preschool-type program and have the biggest need to prepare for the upcoming school year.

KindergardenPrep2016_2All students are assessed on their skills and what they know at the beginning of the program and then they are assessed at the end of the program to make sure they were able to grasp the important fundamentals of the program.

KindergardenPrep2016_3This year 32 students were in the program. The students were divided up to make two classes. Jefferson Elementary School principal Angie Mills, teachers Julie Good and Ashley Nan along with aids Jen Shidler and Kayla Fosler supervised the program.

Kindergardenprep2016_4This is the second year the program has been offered at PCSC and both years it has been housed at Jefferson Elementary School. For 17 days, from June 2 to June 24, for three hours (8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) each day, the PCSC staff helped this select group of children get ready for their exciting upcoming first year of school.

Plymouth Community School Corporation hopes to be able to offer the program every summer, as long as their school corporation continues to qualify for the UWMC grant.
