Argos Schools signThis week the Argos School Board approved a number of items for the 2016-17 school year.

The Professional Development Plan approved for next year will eliminate the 1 hour delayed starts on Tuesday.  Instead there will be up to 7 personal development days the first fridays of September, October, November, December, February, March and May will be work days for teachers and days off for students.  This change comes as a result of the surveys from parents and teachers.

The Argos School Board also approved the use of E-learning days for the 2016-17 school year.  Superintendent Michele Riise said, “We have the technology and tools to make this happen.  We’ve had one and a half years to practice and I feel that we are ready to take this final step.”  She indicated that they will continue to refine and improve the plan as they put it in place.

Superintendent Riise has made arrangements to lease technology equipment using the capital projects fund.  She said the system recently went down and it took about half a day to to retrieve the data.  It was also discovered there is a lack of a back up.  Also includes is a new phone system.  The current system is dying and having phones that work is a security issue.  The 4-year lease is $20,000 the first year and $17,000 the remaining 3 years.
