Plymouth_Logo_2014Members of the Plymouth Common Council approved several requests during their meeting Monday evening.

The Plymouth Kilwinning Masonic Lodge was given permission to use the fenced in area of the water tower near Pilgrim Manor during the Blueberry Festival for securing their golf carts in while operating their parking lots.

Also approved by the city council was the request of St. Michael School to close the gates between the school and playground during the school day from 8 a.m. until 2:45 p.m.  Jason Faulstich said, “It’s a security issue.  People use the alley as a short cut and drive and walk through the alley.  With the children coming to the playground supervisors have had check the area before allowing the children out to play.”  The gate will not be locked but closed for the entire day.  Since the alley is city property the council approved the request.

The Plymouth Rotary Club received city approval to close Michigan Street from LaPorte to Garro Streets on Saturday, October 10th for their second annual Street Collectable Show.  They will now need to get state permission to close the street too.

Placing a dumpster in the alley at 300 West Washington Street was approved by the council for Tom Lenker.  Lenker was scheduled to demolish a dilapidated home at the property on Tuesday.

The final request the Plymouth city council considered was from the Woman’s Care Center at the corner of Michigan and Washington Streets.  Cindy Casper, purchasing agent for the WCC said they would like a loading and unloading parking space at the rear of their building on East Washington Street.  She said they usually have deliveries two to three days a week.  She also noted that she and other employees have had issues with parking tickets.  With a slight bit of hesitation the council approved the request.
