Eva Rosella Pugh Spaid, 87, passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in South Bend on May 21, 1936 to Francis and Ethal (Elliott) Pugh.

After meeting on a blind date, Eva married her sweetheart, Russell Spaid, on May 1, 1954 at Shiloh Wesleyan Church in Plymouth. Together, they raised 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Eva’s favorite memories were those when she was united with her family. Russell and Eva celebrated almost 70 years of marriage.

She will be remembered for her feisty personality, but also her natural ability to go with the flow and not get her feathers ruffled. In her free time, Eva enjoyed going to the Moose and dancing to the different bands they would have. In her later years, she would spend much of her time with her daughter Kim; shopping, laughing, and spending precious time together.

Eva will be dearly missed by her husband, Russell; children, Kerry Spaid of Bremen, Peggy (Mike) Breasseale of Horton, AL, Perry Spaid of Plymouth, Brenda (Tim) Baranski of Granger, and Kimberly (Steve) Giese of Walkerton; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ethal; and siblings, Frank Pugh, Betty Emmons, and Jeri Rich.

Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
