Lawrence R. Bender, 83, of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in his home.
Lawrence was born to Harry and Anna (Wolff) Bender on April 15, 1940. He was a high school graduate and retired from the Plymouth Sanitation Department after his career of 43 years. He married Elizabeth Ruth Kirkpatrick on July 3, 1984 and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2011. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Lawrence is survived by his daughters: Tammy (Don) Paxton of Rochester, IN; Tina (Ron) Furnivall of Rochester, IN; his sons: Jim (Lisa) Chapman of Plymouth, IN; Joe Chapman of Plymouth, IN; Alan Bender of Plymouth, IN; Lawrence Bender, Jr. of Rochester, IN; Jackie Chapman of Plymouth, IN; and Jerry (Theresa) Chapman of South Bend, IN; several grandchildren; his brothers: John Bender of Plymouth, IN; and Frank Bender of Plymouth, IN.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Darel Lee; and his sister-in-law, Charlotte Bender.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kristin Harp presiding.
The burial will take place in Union Cemetery (Plymouth, IN).
