Charles “Chuck” G. Surber, 94, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Born on December 21, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana he was the son of William F. and Gladys L. (Brady) Surber. He attended Indiana Arsenal Tech High School graduating with the class of 1946. Chuck proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1947 until his honorable discharge in 1950.  On October 17, 1964 Chuck and Carol were united in marriage in Plymouth, sharing 58 years of wonderful years together.
Chuck worked for Indiana Tool and Die for 30 years before retiring in 1992. He then would go to work for Walmart staying busy. Known as a funny, friendly, charismatic, soft-spoken man that never knew a stranger and would do just about anything for anyone. A family man that was his grandson Connor’s number 1 football fan that rarely missed a game from his high school to college years at DePauw University.
Chuck loved the Lord with all of his heart and he lived that life for his family and others.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Plymouth; son Greg (Cindy) Surber of South Bend; daughters: Carol Ann Chileen of Rochester; Patty Tolliver of Culver; grandson Connor Surber of South Bend; nephews James Brinson; and his niece Gladys O’steen.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carol Raye Stailey, sons: William and John Surber, siblings: Bud, Buster, Ed, Dorothy and Bertha Mae.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 11-1 pm at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Martin Furrlow officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth with military honors rendered by the U.S. Navy and the Plymouth Am. Legion Post #27.
