Nina B. Blake, 85, passed away at 11:31 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. On August 6, 1937, she was born in Michigan City, Indiana to Leonard and Vernette (Samuelson) Johnson.  She was united in marriage to William J. “Bill” Blake on December 7, 1957, in Augsburg Lutheran Church, Porter, Indiana, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2021.Nina was a graduate of Chesterton High School, Class of 1955. She was able to join Bill during his year in Germany, serving in the U.S. Army, where they had the wonderful opportunity to visit his many relatives there. Upon returning to the states, they settled in their hometown of Chesterton. They moved to Plymouth in 1977 and enjoyed raising their family there.  Nina and Bill then spent 16 years of retirement in Tennessee.  Nina also enjoyed traveling, taking several bus tours. But family was most important to them, and they returned to Plymouth in 2013 to enjoy their precious grandchildren and family activities. Nina worked as a secretary for Chesterton State Bank and First United Church of Christ.  She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Plymouth and she worked with Braille Group. They were blessed with five children: Steven Blake, Brian (Carol) Blake, Karen (Bill) Williams, Daniel (Heidi) Blake and Kristina (Robert) Noonan. Their fifteen grandchildren are: Justin (Megan) Blake, Jonathan (Reda) Blake, Tom (Morgan) Blake, Sarah (Lee) Melling, Eric (Olivia) Blake, Emily (Nick) Read, Mary, Anne and Jenna Blake, Kyle and Michael Kaser, Cayman Blake, Rachel, Joseph, and Bethany Noonan, as well as great-grandson Silas Blake and 2 great-granddaughters, Grace Blake and Hazel Melling.  Nina is also survived by her brother, James (Heidi) Johnson, Lebanon, Tennessee. Nina was also preceded by her parents. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1314 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth with Pastor Eric Ahlemeyer officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.  Memorial contributions may be made in Nina’s memory to Calvary Lutheran Church, 1314 N.
