Calvin Hoeffler, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Born on July 4, 1924 in New York City, New York he was the son of Joseph and Ellen Hoeffler.
Calvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific. After being honorably discharged he attended the University of Missouri obtaining his Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering. He would work for Ford Motor Company as a metallurgist for 45 years before retiring in 1990. He married Geraldine Marie Ferguson on October 2, 1954 in Dearborn, Michigan, she would precede him in death on September 22, 2010. Known as a bright and intelligent man, he believed there were no gray areas in life, only black and white, so doing what is right all of the time was important, even when no one was watching.
Calvin loved athletics of all types. He grew up a St. Louis Cardinals and New York Rangers fan. He enjoyed reading and consumed large numbers of books on a weekly basis, historical fiction was his preferred genre. He was always ready for a card game of any type, bridge and gin his favorites.
He is survived by his sons: Doug (Marie) Hoeffler; Mark Hoeffler; grandchildren: Jessica (Troy) McIntyre;
Calvin Hoeffler and Kelly Hoeffler.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine and his brother Chuck.
Per the wishes of the family a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
