Carolyn A. Holderread, age 68 of Plymouth, IN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 5, 2023 in St. Joseph Medical Center of Mishawaka, IN, surrounded by her loved ones.

Carolyn was born on August 10, 1954 to Thomas and Hazel (Daniel) Carter in Michigan City, IN. She graduated from Elston High School in 1972 and furthered her education by attending business college in LaPorte, IN. She later moved to Plymouth, IN, where she met and married her husband of 32 years, Kerry Holderread on November 17, 1990. Carolyn, along with her husband attended Christ Chapel of South Bend for many years. While attending Christ Chapel, she served the congregation in many positions, including, head ladies usher, teaching, and serving in the kitchen. While attending Christ Chapel, she won numerous Chili Cook-offs and a pie making contest. Most recently, she attended Christian Center Church of South Bend with her husband.

Carolyn had many occupations over her lifetime, including insurance agent for Baker Trevino Brassur Insurance Group. Her latest position before retiring was a food demonstrator at Kroger and Walmart. Her passion was cooking, and through this passion, she oversaw several fundraisers to feed hungry people all over the world. She also enjoyed listening to and singing gospel music, of which, southern quartet style became one of her favorites.

Carolyn will be missed by her husband, Kerry Holderread; her daughter, Rachel Lynn Holderread (significant other, David Sliter) of Lakeville, IN; her grandchild, Logan Sliter; her brother, Daniel (Dixie) Carter of Chesterton, IN; her sister, Brenda (Richard) Johnstone of Michigan City, IN; and Sandy (Steven) Haynes of Michigan City, IN; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Tammy Lynn.

Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Center Church (530 E. Ireland Rd., South Bend, IN 46614).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christian Center Church (530 E. Ireland Rd., South Bend, IN 46614) or to Marshall County Right to Life (P.O. Box 911, Plymouth, IN 46563).
