WARSAW — The Plymouth high school girls swim team had an impressive showing on Thursday and Saturday at the Northern Lakes Conference Championships.
They accomplished their goal of beating Goshen, and finished 5th overall. They lost to Warsaw by just 2.5 points.
Because Plymouth beat Warsaw in the regular season, they end the NLC season in a 3 way tie for 4th.
Top relay finishes for Plymouth were as follows:
200 Medley:
Lucy Keirn, Vivian Wheeler, Kathryn Morrison, Kieran Gritton snagged 4th place with a season best time, 1:58.88
In the 400 Free Relay, the same four took 5th place with a season best time of 3:58.31.
The 200 Freestyle Relay of Claire Lewandowski, Katelyn Baker, Lauren Kopetski, Kyleigh Kara dropped 2.29 seconds to finish in 6th place with a best time of 1:54.71
In the event finals, Lucy Keirn took the top individual finish for Plymouth, earning a 5th place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.71. Vivian Wheeler also landed a spot in the Finals for the 50 free, finishing 8th with a time of 26.32.
Lucy Keirn was the top Plymouth point earner at the conference meet and received the recognition of All-Conference Honorable Mention. She scored 23 points individually by swimming the 100 backstroke, and the 100 Fly. She also contributed by swimming in the 4th place finish in the Medley and 5th place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
Plymouth now sets their sights on Sectionals coming up in the beginning of February at Warsaw.
They have two dual meets remaining in the girls season at home against Culver Academies on Thursday and at Tippy Valley on Monday.
