LAKEVILLE – The LaVille volleyball team hosted South Bend Clay on Pink Out Night and Officials Appreciation Week, losing a close five-set match.
Cailtlyn Goffinet led a balanced defense for the Lady Lancers with 12 digs. Elaina Borton had 11 and Emma Mears 10. Lucy Sherk sparked the net attack with 10 kills, while Ava Fuchs added eight and Lily Smith chipped in with six. Borton also dished out 13 assists and Kate Aschenbrenner 10.
Sherk led the service effort with five aces, with Borton and Reagan Bollenbacher adding two each. LaVille, now 11-20 overall, will play Wheeler in the opening match of the Class 2A North Judson-San Pierre Sectional on Oct. 13. The match is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start.
