GAS CITY — On Saturday the Lancer Cross Country teams traveled to Gas City to participate in the Mississinewa Invitational.
Junior Colin Christy set the tone for the day with a strong 5K race. Christy’s new season best (20:17:50) tied the official time of Ft. Wayne Snider’s Diego Tavira, but the photo finish had Christy winning by a hair, to win the 7th place spot out of 41 runners.
In the Junior High Girl’s race, the trio of Ella Edison, Cara Christy, and Kaydence Yzaguirre ribboned with their top 25 finishes. Edison finished 13th, Christy 15th, and Yzaguirre 20th out of a field of 25th. Each runner also finished the day with a new personal best.
Aaron Platz and Brody Foreman finished the day with new season bests as well, and both earned medals for their top 10 finishes. Platz’s 12:31.6 finish landed him in 4th place, while Foreman’s 13:26.7 earned a 9th place finish in the field of 21.
Christy’s next race will be at home on Tuesday, the middle school will race next in the Lancer Invite on September 1st.
