CULVER – Culver Academies has announced the addition of a second nationally competitive girls’ hockey team.

Culver Girls Academy U16 Hockey will make its debut in the 2023-2024 school year, joining the U19 team to create a uniquely robust girls’ hockey program. The addition of a second team will allow the hockey program to provide age-appropriate development activities for CGA students in grades 9-12.

Culver Girls Academy Hockey is an independent, Tier 1 AAA USA Hockey national program; both the U19 and U16 teams will compete under the USA Hockey Tier 1 AAA umbrella.

“We are very proud of the fact that our U19 team has qualified for the USA Hockey National Tournament two out of the last three years,” said Athletic Director Kevin Cox. “Moving forward, competing at the national level will not only be a goal for our U19 team, but for our U16 team as well.”

“This is a big step for our program. We are thankful to the leadership at Culver Academies for making a strong commitment to the development of our female student-athletes,” said Cory Whitaker – Girls Hockey Program Manager. “The addition of a second girls hockey team will make our program whole. We are extremely excited to begin this journey.”
