Plymouth golfers fourth at Invite

SYRACUSE — The Plymouth Varsity competed Saturday in the Wawasee Invitational held this year at Maxwelton Golf Club in Syracuse providing plenty of challenges for Plymouth on Saturday.
Junior Eli Schramm led the Pilgrims in scoring with a career-best 85. Eli improved five shots on the second (front) nine. He led the team with 10 of 14 fairways and tied for team-high with 6 greens in regulation.
Junior Ashton Blalock also had a career-best day carding a 102. Ashton’s lone par of the day came on his ninth hole of the day (18) to turn in 50.
Junior Bennett Christy 87 had a challenging round. Bennett showed great character today when late in the round he hit an approach onto the difficult 6th green. As his group began to putt he admitted to hitting the wrong ball, a 2-stroke penalty on himself. After going back to find his ball, much further away from the green as expected, a compounding of shots ensued.
Senior Kyle Johnson 92 got off to a hot start, with a good birdie on 17 to make the turn at +6. Kyle’s putting was strong with several one-putts and only one three-putt.
Senior Owen Yoder 92 had a round that can only be described as a rollercoaster ride.
