On Saturday, January 11, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Marshall County 911 received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Rentown Country Store, located near Bremen.
The suspects were described as two individuals, who left in a dark blue, 4-door automobile, possibly Chevy.
One male displayed a gun and demanded money from the cash register. During an extensive criminal investigation, the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department was able to learn the identity of the person involved to be Labrand Jay Holt Spencer, age 39 from the South Bend area. Holt-Spencer is currently serving time within Michigan Departments of Corrections, for an unrelated crime. The Marshall County Sheriff`s Department currently holds an active arrest warrant for his arrest for Armed Robbery.
Recently the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department obtained information as to the second person. The Marshall County Prosecutor`s Office filed criminal charges against Anita Slabaugh for Armed Robbery. On Tuesday, March 02, the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department arrested Anita Slabaugh, age 29 of Etna Green for Armed Robbery. Slabaugh was lodged into the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department, with a cash bond of $25,000.
