On Friday, September 4th at approximately 11:00 P.M. Marshall County Officer Wozniak initiated a traffic stop on a white 2002 Ford Explorer in the area of US 30 and State Road 331. During the course of the investigation, the registered owner identified as 25 year old Solomon Newcomb of Rochester provided a false name. He was found to have a felony warrant through Fulton County and was taken into custody.
The driver of the vehicle identified as 25 year old Destiny Hattabaugh of Ft. Wayne was also found to have an active warrant through Miami County.
Newcomb was found to be in Possession of Methamphetamine, Paraphernalia and Marijuana after he attempted to conceal it in his pants. Mr.Newcomb was taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was held on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijauana, Possession of Paraphernalia and False Informing and was held for his active warrant. Hattabaugh was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held for Miami County.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
