Republican file_1-8-20-1Tuesday, January 8th was the first day for candidates to file for office for the 2020 Election.  Several county candidates stopped by the Marshall County Clerk’s Office first thing in the morning to get their paperwork submitted.

Angie Birchmeier is seeking a second term as the County Treasurer while Surveyor Craig Cultice is also looking forward to his second four year term.

County Council members Penny Lukenbill and Jim Masterson filed on Tuesday for second terms while Councilman Jon VanVactor is seeking his third term.

republican file_1-8-20-2Marshall County Coroner, John Grolich signed up for another four year term.  He is no stranger to the office. Grolich served two terms for eight years and then stepped away from the office.  On Tuesday he sign up for his second term in his second go-around as coroner for Marshall County.

This is a major election year with the President of the United States up for election and the U.S. Senate and District 2 U.S. Representative seats also up.

At the state level, the Governor’s seat, Attorney General and for us, the District 9 Senate seat along with State Representative for District 17.

Republican file_1-8-20On the local level, county offices up for election are Superior Court II Judge, Circuit Court Judge, District 2 and District 3 Commissioner seats and the 3 At-Large seats on the County Council along with the Coroner, Treasurer and Surveyor.

Marshall County Clerk Deb VanDeMark said that candidate filings will continue through February 7th at noon.
