Crash_US30_PlymouthGoshen_5 10-15-19 dogThe mystery of the missing dog from the fatal traffic accident last week has been solved.

On Tuesday, October 15th a vehicle driven by a woman from South Bend pulled out in front of a semi on U.S. 30 at Plymouth Goshen Trail.  The impact of the crash was violent and the vehicle rolled several time before coming to rest upside down in the median.  44 year old Dorcas Hernandez Figueroa was killed in the crash and her daughter sustained minor injuries.  The small dog with them had gotten out of the vehicle after the crash and a passerby had picked it up and placed it in her vehicle.  She then went to offer aid to the two victims.

A licensed practical nurse, after helping the Plymouth Paramedics she took the dog to her vet in Crown Point to have it checked out.  She spent hundreds of dollars at the vet and ultimately the dog did not survive the crash.

On Friday the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was able to notify the family what had happened to their family pet.
