Triton logoA Gold Star Counseling Designation was made official last week, according to Triton School Corporation Superintendent Jeremy Riffle.

Tuesday evening Riffle said the Triton Jr/Sr High School was recognized as a Gold Star Counseling School as a part of the Comprehensive Counseling Grant received on May, 2017.

Schools that have obtained the Indiana Gold Star status have demonstrated that they have a comprehensive and accountable school counseling and guidance program, aligned to Indiana School Counselor and Student Standards, as well as national standards (ACSA).

Riffle also shared his congratulations to the Spirit of Triton Marching Band on their Gold Rating at the marching band contest held at Homestead Open Class Competition. The band will compete at the Regional level at Lafayette Jefferson next weekend.

High School Principal Bob Ross and Riffle said the blood drive held, proved to have outstanding results. Ross said 41 pints of blood were donated by Triton scholars, staff and community members. Their goal was 29 pints. Of the 41 donors, 29 were first-time donors. Ross said an additional 15 donors were rejected for various reasons such as being out of the country and anemia.
