Erice Partin_1Tuesday evening the Marshall County Republic Party conducted a caucus to fill the vacant at-large council seat on the Argos Town Council.  The caucus was held at Republican Headquarters in Plymouth.

The vacancy came on Thursday, September 19th when Suzanne Umbaugh resigned her seat on the council.

Erica PartinRepublican Party Chairman David Holmes introduced the two candidates who filed declaration of candidacy by the deadline:  Erica Partin and Thomas (TJ) Kline.  Each was give two minutes to talk and then the Green Township and Walnut Precinct Committeemen had the opportunity to ask questions.

Since Partin filed first she went first.  She told the precinct committeemen she has been a resident of Argos for 15 years.  With grown children she works at the Plymouth Hospital and has time to commit to the town.  When asked what her goals were she said she wanted to help Argos grow and succeed.   Erica said they need new things and new ideas and with a fresh pair of eyes she wants to help the council make decision for the town.

Thomas TF KlineThomas Kline told the precinct committee he’s been a resident of Argos for 25 years.  He’s served on the fire department for a while, was a youth soccer coach and is currently the commander of the American Legion.  When asked what his goals were for the town TJ said he too wanted to see it grow and talked about more housing including subsidized housing and bringing young people to the community.

Argos CaucusIn a secret ballot vote Erica Partin was elected to fill the vacancy. She was sworn into office at the close of the caucus.
