Trick-or-treat2011Last week members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved a resolution setting residential Trick-Or-Treat hours.

Ghosts, goblins, witches, princesses and power rangers and many other costumed youngsters will venture out seeking a sweet treat from city residents who have their front porch lights on, signaling the opportunity to trick-or-treat at their home.  The City of Plymouth has set Thursday, October 31st from 5 to 7 p.m. as the official hours.

During that same meeting the Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request of the Chamber of Commerce to close Michigan Street from LaPorte Street to Adams Street from 1 to 3 on Saturday, October 26th for the traditional downtown trick-or-treat.

While the Chamber requested to have LaPorte Street between Michigan and Center Street closed, the Board of Public Works and Safety denied the request because Fire Chief Rod Miller said in the case of an emergency that is one of the main routes to travel to various areas of the city.

As a way to work with some merchants who are not in favor of restricting access to their customers during trick-or-treat the chamber has moved the event to the street allowing shoppers to walk the sidewalks.  Participants will set up their trick-or-treat stands in the street in front of their businesses.
