Plymouth Community SchoolsThe Plymouth School Board unanimously approved a resolution that clarifies what the school corporation will do with funds that are realized with the decrease in their contribution to the Indiana Public Retirement System.  When the state approved Indiana HEA 1001, the amount of withholding from teacher’s gross income went from 7.5 percent to 5.5 percent.

The Plymouth Corporation will recognize approximately $168, 132 in savings. During the September 3rd school board meeting, it was decided that the school corporation will consider the savings generated by the reduction when bargaining teacher contracts.

The board also agreed to use monies from the Teacher Appreciation grant for teacher stipends.

In other matters, the Plymouth School Board held a public hearing for the proposed budgets for 2020. The board held a work session on August 20 to discuss the budgets and plans. The hearing is mandated to give the public an opportunity ask questions or make comments concerning the proposed budget, 2020 Capital Project Plan, and the 2020 Bus Replacement Plan. There were only two audience members present at the hearing and there were no comments. The proposed budget and plans were published in the Pilot News on two different occasions. A complete copy of the proposals can be found at www.plymouth.K12.in.us.
