road_workThe Marshall County Highway Department continues working on the 2019 Road Program.  On Thursday, August 22nd the crew will begin working on 13th Road between State Road 17 and Peach Road.  Road will be close during road work hours although emergency vehicles, school buses, home owners or resident deliveries will only allowed.

On Thursday they will wedge the road, leveling it out and then on Friday they will start the first lane of paving and should have about 2.5 miles completed by Tuesday, August 27th.    Next Wednesday, August 28th and 29th they will come back in and start matching the joints back in.

The County Highway Department will start road striping in various locations throughout the county August 26th through the 30th.  Motorist traveling on freshly painted road that are marked (wet paint) and marked with cones are asked to travel with caution or avoid the area.   Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said, “Paint dries very quickly, but need a short amount of time to dry before vehicle should cross over lines.”

Walsh and Kelly will begin their Community Crossing road projects on Monday, August 26th.  Dogwood Road from U.S. 6 to the County Line will be pulverized and graded on Monday and Tuesday and they will also mill the intersection approaches. On Wednesday, August the 28th they are scheduled to prime the road and apply the pavement binder.  Thursday paving will take place and then on Friday Walsh and Kelly will place the aggregate shoulders. Pavement markings won’t happen until after the Labor Day holiday.  Cost for this project is $334,214.

The 11th Road project from U.S. 31 to South Michigan Street will also begin on Monday, August 26th with milling.  Paving will take place on Tuesday and the aggregate will be installed on Friday, August 30th.   Pavement marking will happen after Labor Day.  This project was bid at $127,170.
