Severe_weatherMarshall County EMA Director, Clyde Avery is letting citizens know that the county is a “Marginal” risk for severe weather (1 out of 5) today and Tuesday according to the National Weather Service.

The approximate timing of the storms will be between 8pm tonight and 4 am Tuesday morning.  Best chance for severe weather will be near and south of U.S. 30.

Threats include damaging winds (up to 60 mph), torrential rainfall, and the chance of an isolated tornado.

Impacts could include damage to trees and power-lines that could lead to power outages and trees across roads or into buildings.  Heavy rain could cause localized flooding and ponding on road surfaces.

In preparation for the storms citizens should secure loose objects outdoors that could be blown around and cause property damage.  Monitor local news for weather updates and be prepared to implement personal emergency plans should severe weather occur.
