PHS Growth Award - March 2019The PHS students listed below have been selected as the top in their class for showing the most growth during March.

Sophomore Joshua Vargas Alvarado was nominated by his world history civilization teacher Ryan Wolfe for his noticeable improvement throughout the month with the grade improvement and his timely arrival to class. Wolfe said, “Josh has continued to improve in my class. He has turned in all his work and does very well on the tests. He has also improved overall with his prompt arrival to my class. I can tell he has made a change in the way he does things. I am very proud of him and all he has accomplished this month thus far.”

Freshman Cristian Henriquez Zuniga, a student enrolled at WSOI, was chosen by a team of PHS administrators as the top ninth grade student for showing the most growth in the class during March. He was nominated for this award by his advisory instructor Miss Amie Betz for overall grade improvements he has made this quarter and his classroom behavior. Betz said, “Cristian has taken a strong initiative to use his advisory time for completing homework and missing assignments instead of socializing with his friends. I have noticed this month he comes to me for help and is reaching out to his other teachers. He has also been incredibly respectful and well behaved since the beginning of the new year, which is a huge change from the beginning of the school year.”
