Marshall County Police investigated a two vehicle accident at US 30 and King Road on Tuesday morning at 10 A.M.
The accident occurred when a 2015 Freightliner semi driven by Billy Smith of Iowa was east bound. He told the officer the light turned red quickly and he activated his horn as a warning that he could not stop given the weight of his vehicle.
The semi collided with a 2007 Ford F150 driven by 25 year old Kyle J. Calhoun of Plymouth. Calhoun had just entered the intersection on a green light, north bound from King Road and was attempting to make a left hand turn on to US 30 when he was struck by the semi. The impact forced the pickup truck into the over-high light pole.
The police report said damage to both vehicles was extensive.
Both Kyle Calhoun and a passenger in his vehicle, Mikayla Calhoun complained of pain but refused transport to the hospital.
