Tuesday evening, Jerry Chavez, President and CEO of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation updated member of the Marshall County Redevelopment Commission on the Aquatic Center and Early Childhood Learning Center construction projects.

aquatic center roofHe provided a couple of pictures showing that the roof deck is all on the aquatic center and they are putting the two insulation layers on now. Excavation for the swimming pool is underway and Chavez said they are past the unknown for poor soils and they are not expecting or anticipating any surprises going forward.

Aquatic Center Pool digOn Tuesday they were preparing the deep end of the pool with a wire-mesh so the concrete to be poured next week.  Wrapping up the pool project he said the split-block-face brick on the west exterior wall is in place and they preparing to place more in the coming weeks.

The Early Childhood Learning Center is expected to be finished with construction in the next month and a half.   Lots of finish work is being done currently including the carpet and tile being laid.

Growing Kids, a for-profit entity is anticipated to open in May.  They have seven centers in South Bend and will be opening one in Warsaw soon after the Plymouth site opens.   Chavez said a grand opening will be coming for the early childhood learning center in the spring and the pool grand opening should be early fall.
