VanGilder Funeral Home_1With the change of a business name comes the need for a new sign.  During this month’s Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals meeting, Terry Clemons, owner of the Van Gilder Funeral Home told members he plans to replace the current sign saying Van Gilder Funeral home and replace it with a sign that says Deaton Clemons Van Gilder Funeral Home.  They will retain the post already in place and just slightly increase the size of the sign.

VanGilder Funeral Home_2Clemons presented a picture of the new, proposed sign to members of the BZA and said the sign is only slightly wider than the current sign.

City Plan Consultant, Ralph Booker said due to the fact that the sign is located in a residential district, even though it’s just a replacement, a variance of development standard had to be requested.

VanGilder Funeral Home_3After reviewing the current sign placement and the photo of the proposed sign the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved the variance.
