Crash_US31_Cindy's_1 2-7-19_1An Indiana State Police Trooper was involved in a two vehicle collision of US 31, south of the Michigan Road intersection just after 10 Thursday morning.

Trooper David Caswell was travelling southbound on US 31 near 13th road when he was involved in a rear end crash with a black 1999 Explorer.  The southbound Explorer was driven by 68 year old Jerry Broussard.  The impact spun the Explorer into the center median and Trooper Caswell’s 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe came to rest on the right shoulder.

Crash_US31_Cindy's_2 2-7-19The ISP Officer was southbound going to back up some troopers that were on a traffic stop on the northbound side of US 31 when the crash occurred.

Caswell’s vehicle sustained major front end damage and the Explorer had heavy rear end damage.

Broussard was transported to Saint Joseph Health System Hospital in Plymouth with complaints of pain.
