County news # 2Angie Birchmeier, Marshall County Treasurer presented the County Commissioners with the 2019 contract with Worrell for printing and mailing this year’s tax bills.

Birchmeier said there was a slight increase in cost due to the fact that postage just went up.  Cost is $10,540 for printing the tax bills and $10,255 for mailing them with a total cost of $20,759.

Tax bills are set to be mailed on April 12th with the spring installment due on May 10th and the fall installment due on November 12th due to the Veteran’s Day holiday.

The County Treasurer was also granted approval to offer extend hour for the spring and fall tax collection.  The office will be open on Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m. till noon and on Thursday, May 9th and Friday, May 10th from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m.   In the fall the treasurer’s office will be open on Saturday, November 9th from 9 a.m. till noon and on Friday, November 8th and Tuesday, November 12th from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m.  Birchmeier said representatives from both the Assessor and Auditors office will also be available during the extended hours.
