Greg Compton Filing 2-4-19Monday afternoon Greg Compton filed in the Marshall County Clerk’s office for a City Council At-Large Seat on the Republican Ticket.

Compton is no stranger to politics and has been active with a number of public service agencies.  Compton served as Marshall County Commission from 2010 to 2012 filling the vacancy when Tom Chamberlin was elected Sheriff and resigned from his commissioner seat.   Compton also served on the County Plan Commission, Drainage Board and was a member of the Marshall/Starke Drainage Board.   Over the years Greg Compton has served as Vice President and Treasurer of the PIDCO Board of Directors, was the former Treasurer of the United Way Board of Directors, is the current Vice President of the Plymouth Plan Commission and is an alternate on the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals.  Currently Compton is on the Board of Directors of Wild Rose Moon and is their Treasurer.  Prior to this year he was also treasurer of the City of Plymouth Republican Committee.

Greg Compton is married to Jennifer Compton and they have four children and two grandchildren.  He was born and raised in Plymouth, graduated from PHS, graduated from Pensacola Junior College and attended the University of West Florida.  He currently serves as the Branch Manager of KeyBank in Plymouth, working there since 2005.

Greg Compton Filing 2-4-19_2In a press release Compton said, “I plan to work closely with the Mayor, the City Council, and City Department Managers to continue to make our City a great place to work and live.  I am completely committed to be an advocate of fiscal financial responsibility at every turn.  I will never forget where our budget monies originated. I will support the current initiatives to expand our Greenway Trail working with the State of Indiana in their effort to connect trails throughout Indiana.  Additionally, I will continue to support the work to improve our streets, sidewalks and beautiful park system.”

As part of his platform Compton said he would like to begin an initiative to revitalize our neighborhoods throughout the city.  He said, “It was disappointing that statistics show nearly 60% of houses in Plymouth are rental properties.  This is not an unusual statistic for cities of our size.”   Compton said he believes with greater home ownership in the community, we can generate a greater tax base and improve the city overall.

In closing Greg Compton said, “I love my community and will do everything within my power to make Plymouth a better place to live and to work.  I want to be an elected member of our city government and work for you the citizens of Plymouth.”

There are three At-Large-Seats on the Plymouth City Council.  Currently there are three republicans: Greg Compton, Nick Fisher and Bill Walters who have filed and one democrat, Jeff Houin.
