City NEwsThe Plymouth Common Council conducted their first meeting of the new year and reorganization was the first order of business.

Don Ecker was elected Mayor Pro-Tem.  This allows Ecker to act in the mayor’s behalf if he is unable to attend a meeting or sign official papers.  This is the third year the council has selected Ecker to fill the position.

During Monday’s meeting the City Council approved the mayor’s appointments.

His appointments included Laura Mann to another 4-year term on the Park Board and John Yadon to a 4-year term on the Plan Commission.  He was selected to replace Jim Sherwood who retired this fall.  Other appointments include Craig Hopple, Tom Pedavoli and Nancy Felde to 1-year terms on the Redevelopment Commission and Melissa Christiansen to a 2-year term.  Vida Creed was reappointed to another 1-year term on the Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the final appointments approved were Luke Felde, Dan Shuppert, Mike Woolfington and Robert Yoder to 2-year terms on the Urban Forest and Flower Committee.

The City Council approved meeting times and dates for 2019.  Their Board of Public Works and Safety and Common Council will meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month except on Memorial Day in May when the meeting is moved to Tuesday, May 28th.

Their final action was approved a Boot Drive at the corner of Michigan and Jefferson Streets on may 4th from 9 to 1 by the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department for the Relay for Life.
