school Board 1-14-19The Plymouth School Board began their first meeting of 2019 with Robin Davidson administering the oath of office to newly re-elected members, Melissa Christiansen and Larry Pinkerton. Christiansen is beginning her 13th year as a board member and Pinkerton begins his 21st.

The board elected officers for 2019. Todd Samuelson will continue as board president along with Christiansen as vice-president and Robin Cupka as secretary.

Samuelson was appointed legislative liaison and Christiansen was appointed as the negotiation liaison. They will also both serve on the Strategic Plan Committee.

Jeff Houin of Easterday and Houin was again named as legal counsel.

In other matters, Derek Anderson, project manager from the Skillman Corporation, shared the progress of the Lincoln Junior High building project with the board. Anderson said the project is progressing on time and within budget. He indicated that the brick masons continue with their portion of the project by working in enclosed areas during colder temperatures and  outside when the temperatures are 30 degrees and rising. According to Anderson, much of the current construction is targeted to the two-story addition and the gap between the two-story portion and the gym.

Future board meetings will return to the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of a few months where there are conflicts. The next meeting will be on February 12 at 7:00 P.M.
