County News # 1The Marshall County Commissioners held their first meeting of 2019 on Monday and their first order of business was the reorganization of the board.  Kevin Overmyer was unanimously elected to serve another term as president while Mike Delp was be the vice president.

The next item of business addressed was the large number of appointments the commissioners have.  Four year appointments to the various Plan Commissions included: Dale Blanch to the Argos Plan Commission; Patty Kitch and Eric Sechrist to the Bourbon Plan Commission; Matt Miller will replace Stan Klotz on the County Plan Commission as well Dave Hostetler will finish out the term of Rance Glingle and the commissioners reappointed Terri Barnhart.

Jan Fisher will serve another 1 year term on the Marshall County Alcoholic Beverage Commission and Randy Glingle and Dave Stults will serve a 3 year term on the County Drainage Board.  Commissioner Overmyer was reappointed to the MACOG board while Trend Weldy and Joe Martin Jr. were reappointed to 1 year terms on the MACOG Regional Economic Development Board.

The Commissioners also had appointments to the county’s Sick Bank Board.  Rhonda Ferguson, Matt Hassel and Mindy Relos-Penrose were all reappointments.  The county’s Safety Committee will include Mike Delp as chairman, Jason Peters, Doug and Gary Masterson, Clyde Avery, Janet Howard, Matt Hassel, a representative from Court Services the Health Department and the Surveyor’s office along with Tori Stull from the county’s HR Department. These will be 2-year terms.

Commissioner Overmyer was reappointed to the Central Dispatch Committee and Mike Delp will serve on the Unsafe Buildings Committee, replacing Commissioner Kurt Garner.

The annual county department head reviews were not completed in December as normal due to conflicts.  The annual reviews are scheduled for January 14th.  In the meantime, to give department heads “piece of mind” Commissioner Overmyer recommended moving forward with their appointments and the other two commissioners agreed.  Department head appointments included:

Director County IT – Michael Marshall

Veteran Service Officer – Pam Schweizer Betz

County Building Commissioner – Chuck DeWitt

Weights and Measurers – Jerry Huss

County Highway Superintendent – Jason Peters

County Attorney – James Clevenger.
