The Marshall County Democratic Party held an election last Saturday to select a new county chairman after the November announcement from Jim Smart that he was resigning his position.
While Smart announced his resignation on General Election night, it had nothing to do with the results of the election. In fact, Smart had spoken to the party officers two weeks prior to announcing his decision to county democrats. Smart said he was stepping down as County Chair to concentrate on his studies as he pursues his goal to be ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church.
On Saturday morning, acting Democrat Chairman, Shiloh Fonseca Milner was elected County Chairman and Brandon Rich was elected Vice Chairman. Current Treasurer Jeff Houin and Secretary Amy Walker retained their positions.
