Plymouth Color Logo2014The ordinance to set the pay raise for the Mayor and Clerk/Treasurer of Plymouth was passed Monday evening during the Common Council meeting.

The ordinance recommendation set forth by Councilman Don Ecker Jr. called for a 3.5% salary increase for 2019.  At the common council meeting two weeks ago Ecker said he was trying to bring their pay back up to where it should have been if the mayor and clerk had taken a pay raise for 2018.   He noted that since two major industries announced they were leaving the mayor and clerk decided for forgo a raise for 2018.

During the discussion Monday evening Councilman Gary Cook who voiced his opposed to the 3.5% raise for 2019 said he was supportive of a 2% raise, the same amount city employees are receiving next year.  He listed several industrial and retail businesses that have closed or left the community and said the county still has a lot of people who are unemployed.

The Plymouth Common Council passed the ordinance on second and third readings by a 5 to 1 vote with Duane Culp being absent from the meeting.
