Adams_First_1A parking issue on the east side of the Community Resource Center on Adams Street was brought to the attention of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety last Monday.

Savanna Fettig submitted a request for a NO PARKING sign at the intersection of Adams and 1st Street.  Her written request says cars are parking on both streets very close to the intersection making it almost impossible to turn on to 1st Street from West Adams Street during normal business hours.

Board of Public Works members were informed by Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt that 1St Street isn’t a city street between Jefferson and Adams, and it’s not even an alley….it’s private property owned by Dennis, Betty and Rex Jr. McVey and Michelle Klotz.

Adams_First_3Marquardt said the city has no power to sign or do anything on the north-south roadway since it is privately owned.  He did say he could paint yellow curbs or place signage on Adams Street to keep vehicles from parking too close to the intersection.

The issue is occurring because of the paved portion of the parking lot is not large enough to accommodate all the employees in the building and those clients who use services in the building.   Councilman Bill Walters said the overflow parking is using Adams and 1st Streets.

Marquardt said an additional parking lot near Jefferson Street was suppose to be added as part of the County’s in-kind contribution to the project but there has been no action.

Adams_First_2The Board of Public Works and Safety passed a motion to restrict parking on both sides of the intersection on Adams Street.
