Airport_Doug Badell HangerOn Tuesday the Plymouth Airport honored one of the longest tenants at the airport by naming a hanger after him.

Doctor Doug Badell had had a hanger at the airport since 1974.

Airport Manager Bill Sheley said, “He comes out most every morning for a few hours and usually has the coffee made before I get to the office in the morning.”  He continued, “Doc was part of the flying club that started the breakfast fly in that was eventually turned over to the Optimists Club. So with such long history at the airport he has been real helpful to me to learn about the airports past.”

A typical example of Doc’s kindness, last week a gentleman flew in and needed to get to a business in South Bend, without hesitation Doc offered to drive him, and he did.

Sheley said, “It is very common to see hangars named after people at airports. Several of us talked and thought it was a great idea to memorialize Dr. Badell and we figured why wait 10 or 15 years till he is gone, let’s do it now while he can still see how much he is appreciated.”
