Plymouth Color Logo2014Monday evening the Plymouth Common County conducted a public hearing for the pre-adoption of the 2019 Budget.

Next year’s General Fund budget for the city will be $8,034,846 while all funds together will be $16,306,141.  The 2019 budget does include a 2% across the board raise for all city employees, department heads, police and firefighters.

Clerk Treasurer Jeanine Xaver said the published budget is based on 85% of the current year’s assessment valuation (A/V).  The current A/V is $391 million and 85% of that is $333 million.  She said based on the reduced A/V the anticipated tax rate for 2019 would be $2.12 per $100 of net assessed A/V.  The clerk went on to say that it excludes the Cum Cap Development Fund rate of 4.95 cents.  Last year’s rate was advertised at $1.95 and ended up at $1.65.

The clerk does anticipate a reduction in the 2019 tax rate once the state has approved all the budgets in the state, which should happen by mid to late November.  She’s thinking the drop will be similar to the .30 cent reduction we saw for the 2018 tax rate.

The Plymouth Common Council will adopt the 2019 budget on 2nd and 3rd reading at their next meeting on Monday, September 24th at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Plymouth Fire Department.
