Centennial Park_front gateLast week members of the Plymouth Park Board passed a new park policy that prohibits camping or overnight stays in all city parks.

City attorney Sean Surrisi said park employees are seeing more people pitching a tent or sleeping in their vehicles, especially in River Park Square.  He said the park board could give expressed permission for overnight stays.

River Park Square_entryPark Board President Dave Morrow said, “It’s just not a good thing for people to come into the park in the morning and find that.”  He also noted that any special event that wish to stay overnight in the park can be handled on an individual basis or through an event contract with the parks.

This park policy will give law enforcement some teeth in the law to force people to move along.
