BandCamp2018_1It has been a summer tradition at Plymouth High School Band Camp during the past few years. It is one our band campers look forward to; a visit from the Plymouth Fire Department.

BandCamp2018_2This year, Fire Investigator Jesus Garcia had the honors of helping band campers beat the heat. On Thursday, Garcia pulled into the PHS parking lot in a Center West Township fire rig. PHS students were in their bathing suits waiting to greet him. Once he fired up the fire hoses many students, and even PHS Band Director Bryan Ames took turns being in control of the high-pressure water hoses, deciding who got doused with water.

BandCamp2018_3Band camp started on Monday, July 16 and after nine, eight-hour days Ames said both students and staff welcomed the refreshing way to cool down. Ames said the two-week band camp allows students time to improve their marching skills, upperclassmen time to show incoming members the ropes, and overall gives the band time to make sure they are ready for the first football game of the year. This year’s band camp wrapped up Friday evening.
