Troy Manges, District Conservationist with the USDA-NRSC appeared before the Marshall County Drainage Board last week to seek approval and partial funding for a project on the Brock Ditch between Apple and Beech Roads.

Brock Ditch_2The proposed drainage structure was not funded through the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) through the UDSA-NRCS but Marshall County Soil & Water Conservation District board did agree to put some funding toward the “rock shoot”.

The grade stabilization structure is estimated to cost $10,700.  Marshall County Soil & Water will fund $2,000 towards the project.

Brock Ditch_3The County Drainage Board discussed the project with property owner, Rex Brock who said the old tile breaks down quite often. The Drainage Board agreed put $4,350 toward the project with the property owner paying the remaining amount.  The Drainage Board also agreed to pay the cost to up-size the tile from a 12 inch to a 15 inch for 300 feet out into the field at an estimated cost of $300.
