LAKEVILLE, IN. – LaVille shot 56-percent from 3-point land and the defense picked off 11 steals in a 60-10 victory over Elkhart Christian Aacdemy.
The Lancers hit seven treys in the first half, including four by senior Lindsey Aschenbrenner to open a 40-5 halftime lead. LaVille would finish 10-of-18 from beyond the arc.
“Aryn (Eash), Haley (Berger), and Lindsey (Aschenbrenner) shot the 3-pointer well tonight,” said LaVille coach Corey Duncan, who watched her team sink a season-high 10 triples. “Our half-court defense looked good again and we are doing the things we practice and our mentality is strong right now!”
Eash led all scorers with a season-high 21 points, Lindsey Aschenbrenner had 14, and Berger tied a season-high with nine points. Haylie Cox hauled in six rebounds and had two blocks, while Nina Sajdak added five boards. Eash chipped in with five steals.
The Lancers head into Thanksgiving break with a 6-1 overall record, the best since the 2003-04 season under John Willoughby.
“Heading into break, I hope we can continue playing the way we are playing,” said Duncan. “Triton will be a tough opponent and our first conference game!”
LaVille (6-1) takes eight days off before a Hoosier North Athletic Conference opener at Triton, Nov. 29.
The Lancer defense has allowed 48 total points in the last three games, averaging just 16 ppg. The offense is averaging 56 ppg over the last three outings.
Elkhart Christian Academy falls to 2-3 overall and will travel to Concord on Nov. 28.
